Nacera Belaza L'Écho

This new work by Nacera Belaza is performed by the choreographer and actress Valérie Dréville. A meeting of kindred spirits as one champions the idea of dance as speech in the body and the other makes her body resonate through words when performing on theater stages. A beautifully paired duo.

A recipient of the Molières award for best female actor in 2024, Valérie Dréville has been acclaimed on stage – in both classical and contemporary texts – onscreen, particularly in La Sentinelle by Arnaud Desplechin, and more recently on dance stages. Choreographer Nacera Belaza recognized in her performance the same pursuit of perfection, radicality, intensity and greatness as in her own work. The meeting of these two was thus inevitable. Taking a leap in the dark, the artists got to work, aligning their mutual interest in the void and the unknown until they reached a tipping point. Like two musicians that always dreamed of playing together or two chemical elements blending into a precipitate, their connection gelled. Resulting from a common creative necessity, this duo of bodies driven by the same desire for speech and infinity was bound to come into existence.
