Who is this multi-faced character that embodies the multitude of people and gazes, slowly moving from stage left to stage right? The mystery remains. Every time he puts on a face, another one appears. Before our eyes, a captivating show unfolds where an individual switches out faces, donning a succession of clothes and accessories at a relentlessly calculated pace. In his loneliness, the man breathes life into these new features, matches them with gestures and attitudes that provide a new meaning, a new disregarded perspective, a surprising story. Besides, it is a permanent disruption of codes and their related functions. The masculine drifts into the feminine, the statue of an ancient warrior turns into a pieta, an ordinary man collapses and rises back up as a media celebrity. David Mambouch, the extraordinary performer of this piece is absolutely riveting in his “live” transformations.

There is a single man on stage, but the density of the effects he produces conveys the vitality of an entire crowd. His single presence counterbalances the group of spectators he cannot see. Every movement becomes an event, every gesture a word, every garment a costume. Singspiele is an exploration of this strange silent dialogue that takes place in full view of the other, plunging the audience into a time of listening and hypersensitivity to the other and to oneself. It's a show that intensely blends the poetic and the political.
